Digital Office Groningen

Digital Office Groningen

In januari 2017 the Digital Office started. The office has an chief digital officer and 4 enthusiastic pioneers. They all work in a company, a school or local goverment. Together they are a divers team that will give it all for groningen digital city.

The’re many good ideas, but realising them will not happen overnight. The team will hunt for projects to start or accelerate. The team is ambassador for the Groninger digital economy towards local, national and international stakeholders.

The team cannot do it by themselves, we’re on it together. Education, companies (big and small), interest groups and local government such as gemeente and provincie, are part of this program.

This is the team so far:

  Gert-Jan

Who are you?

Gert-Jan Ridder

Gert-Jan Ridder, living in Roden, working mainly in Groningen but actually everywhere in the northern part of the Netherlands. Born and raised on the island Ameland, which probably led to a drive in me about autonomy on one hand, and working together to get things done on the other hand.

What do you do?

Connect like hell…… That’s what I think I am doing. Together we can achieve more. Build on diversity and different perspectives, learn from each other, respecting everybody’s position and knowledge and continuously connecting dots to get things done. To get specific: working from Samenwerking Noord in the Digital Office, and thereby connecting them both in achieving and contributing to a digital future.

Why are you in?

I have a strong believe in getting things done together. Working together in the northern part of the Netherlands on the digital future theme will bring all of us benefits.

Who are you?

Bob Voorneveld

Bob Voorneveld, 32 jaar, happily married to Kristien and father of Lotte(2) and Merel(4). I’m an Apple fanboy and love to cycle in the surroundings of Groningen.

What do you do?

At the moment I’m a programmer at Spindle, working on the iOS app. I’ve been programming since high school, and became a professional 3,5 years ago. Before that I was an interior designer, mostly working on retail projects. Love to work on projects with a clear deadline and goal, work close with clients and connect all sorts of people that have never heard of each other. Love to teach kids some basic programming.

Why are you in?

Since I became a professional programmer, I started noticing a unbalance in the work labour. We need more digital educated people for the jobs that arise. At first, my focus ws based on programmers, since we have a shortage of them in Groningen (and probably all over the world). Working on getting more and more kids interested in programming, I saw that it’s more than just programming. What about the others that won’t become programmers? They also need to know what the digital future is. Make sure that they won’t feel left out. And what about everybody that isn’t in the educational system?

That’s why I wanted to be in when they announced the Digital Office, because this is the platform that can connect the dots for everybody. I hope that what we do, can make a difference.
